چکیده

Anthracite was used as an adsorbent to remove excess phosphate from wastewater. Anthracite used in the present study is environmentally friendly and of cost effective. The adsorption study was carried out using different particle size of adsorbents, different concentration of phosphate solution ranging from 25.0 mg/L to 100.0 mg/L, different pH values ranging from 0.5 to 11.5 along with different adsorbent amount from 1.0 g to 5.0 g. Flow rate was also varied in the range of 0.6 mL/min to 1.8 mL/min. Adsorption column methods show the optimum removal of phosphate under the following conditions: initial phosphate concentration 25 mg/L, initial volume 25.0 mL, flow rate 1.0 mL/min adsorbent amount 2.0 g, particle size, < 90μm. This removal method may provide a solution to the removal phosphate from wastewater in Bangladesh as well as other countries of the world.

Uranium Removal from Aqueous Solution Using Ion-Exchange Resin DOWEX® 2x8 in the Presence of Sulfate Anions

The current study was attributed to uranium (VI) ions adsorption using a anion exchanger resin, Dowex®2x8, in the presence of sulfate anions. Evaluation of operational parameters including contact time, pH, initial concentration of uranium ions, and presence of various anions (including phosphate, sulfate, chloride, fluoride, and nitrate) in the solution was assessed on sorption performance of ...

Removal of Lead Ions from Aqueous Solution by Sorptive-Flotation Using Limestone and Oleic Acid

A simple, rapid and economic procedure was presented to remove lead(II) from aqueous solution under the optimized conditions. It is based on the sorption of Pb2+ ions from aqueous solutions onto limestone fines (LS), which is an inexpensive and widespread over the globe, followed by flotation with oleic acid (HOL) surfactant. The different parameters (namely: solution pH, sorbent...

Fluoride Ions Removal using Yttrium Alginate Biocomposite from an Aqueous Solution (RESEARCH NOTE)

Removal of fluoride ions was investigated using a new adsorbent of yttrium alginate biocomposite (YALG). Effect of various parameters such as pH, contact time, initial concentration of fluoride ions and temperature on the sorption capacity of adsorbent was studied. Performing a mathematical assessment of fluoride sorption, isotherm and kinetics models including Freundlich & Langmuir isotherms a...

Adsorption Efficiency of Iron Modified Carbons for Removal of Pb(II) Ions from Aqueous Solution

Abstract Introduction: The Lead causes severe damage to several systems of the body, especially to bony tissues. Until now, several low-cost biosorbents have been studied for removal of heavy metal ions from aqueous solutions. In the present study, carbonized pomegranate peels modified with Fe2+ and Fe3+ ions and then it was investigated for removal of Pb(II) ions from aqueous solution. ...

Removal of Hg(II) and Cd(II) Ions from Aqueous Solution Using Chitosan: Kinetics and Equilibrium Studies

Background and purpose: The discharge of toxic heavy metal ions into the environment is a serious pollution problem. Heavy metal ions pose adverse toxic risks to human health at very low concentrations. The aim of this paper is the adsorption potential of chitosan (CS) in the removal of Hg(II) and Cd(II) ions from aqueous solution. Materials and Methods: This study was conducted in laboratory s...
